Howdy from Georgia!

(9/13 of my squad mates pictured above on night one of training camp)

I’ve officially made it to the Adventures in Missions base in Gainesville where I’ve already spent 3 days & will continue to spend the next 10 days preparing for the World Race!

I’ve been living community with my squad & let me tell you it’s been SUCH! A! JOY! We’ve literally been waking, eating, sleeping & doing allll the in between things TOGETHER.

As many of know, I’m leaving the country & will be serving in Colombia. For a while this has been the only logistical information that we knew…until now! I’M HERE TO BE THE FIRST TO UPDATE YOU!!

So, in about a week and a half I’ll be hopping on a plane to Medellin, Colombia. Typically, on the World Race you serve in 1 country for 1 month before traveling to serve in a different country. However, my squad and I will be in Colombia for not only 30 days but SIXTY DAYS! 60! So, the first 2 months of my Race will be spent in South America. WHAT A DREAM!

During our time in Colombia, we’ll be partnering with Ciudad Refugio. I don’t know a whole bunch of logistical details other than that, but I’ll share with you what I do know…

Ciudad Refugio was started in response to the cartel industry. Through their diverse programs such as their men’s homeless shelter, a residential restoration center, volunteer exchange program, youth development center AND a children’s feeing program, the ministry has several opportunities to share the love of Christ to the people of Medellin. This means I could be spending my time serving in ANY of these capacities.

I don’t know about you but knowing more details makes it MORE real (like real REAL) that I’m doing the World Race!!! We were also told Ciudad Refugio tends to be a fan favorite among World racers so I’m very stoked!!!

As I’m preparing to launch, I’m filled with so much gratitude for all the people who’ve supported me thus far in getting here. With that being said, I wanted to share with you that I’m still accepting donations towards my total fundraising goal of $17,900! By February 28th I need to fundraise an additional $4,500 to continue serving overseas. So, I would like to invite you to consider partnering with me on mission and making a monthly financial donation to my fundraising account or to my Venmo (@ amandatavares). Any amount $10, $50, $100, $250 is so so so in helping me meet my goal!

I’m filled with so much joy & have SO much more I want to share with you. Especially about what I’ve been up to & the ways the Lord has been working in my heart soooo, stay tuned for my next blog ?

With joy,

Amanda Ruth
